For additional safety and operating information on ladders, follow this link: Ladder Safety
When extending a ladder, be certain it is locked in position before placing your foot on the rungs. Ladder is adjustable at one (1) foot intervals.
The ladders usually stocked in a Rental Center are stepladders and extension ladders and normally are made of wood, aluminum or fiberglass.
Wood ladders have a long history and when made of proper wood, properly maintained and stored provide a light, safe and electrically non-conductive ladder. Aluminum ladders in the Heavy-Duty Type I Class normally carried in rental centers have the advantage of good design, uniform strength, damage which is visible and light carrying weights. Their primary disadvantage is that they they are electrically conductive.
Fiberglass ladders have have all the advantages of aluminum ladders plus they are electrically the safest of all. They are highly recommended when any job involving ladders will take place around electricity.
