Camlock is a 400amp single pole electrical connector used for high current applications, similar to powerlock connectors except generally accepted as being a lot more robust. Camlock can be used for Single Phase and much more commonly Three Phase applications. Three phase connections require 5 separate cables, using the colours detailed here. Applications Camlock connectors are typically used to connect to generators and busbars. Powerlock inputs are available on many large dimmers such as the Avolites Art 2000 and also on large power distribution units. Safety It is possible to fit a finger into an Camlock socket, they must therefore be used with caution and unused sockets suitably protected or isolated. This is not the case with Powerlocks. Camlocks and Powerlocks are not rated for connection or disconnection under load. These connectors should not be handled when Live!

Price is per cable section with camloc ends. 5 cables must be ordred to use as 3 phase application. These extra heavy duty Type “W” single conductor cables with 400A Camlock ends are used when the requirement calls for a double insulated Power Generation cable with the insulation and jacket separated by an open polyester braid reinforcement. This cable construction is used when higher mechanical strength is required. These cables bring temporary power from Portable Power Generators to Power Distribution Panels. General Uses will include applications that call for Temporary Power or Permanent Power. Our Premium Vulcanized rubber jackets are rated for 90°C with working temperatures down to -40°C. These cables also carry a MSHA rating which is a requirement when these cables are used in the Mining Industry.
